Chief of Staff (CoS)

SUMMARY
The Venture Atlas Chief of Staff (CoS) will provide operational and administrative support to the leadership team at our purpose-driven venture capital investment firm. This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The CoS will be responsible for managing strategic projects and events, coordinating efforts across the firm, and ensuring consistent operations of day-to-day activities. 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As Chief of Staff for the Venture Atlas, you will be instrumental in helping the firm achieve its business goals while changing the landscape of venture capital to become more representative of the diverse makeup of our communities. Our ideal candidate will be prepared to quickly build alignment and trust with our key stakeholders, Venture Atlas leadership, and our portfolio entrepreneurs.

The role’s functions will grow according to the talents of the individual hired and ultimately has the opportunity to influence day-to-day decisions that drive both the growth of the firm and the entrepreneurs, partners, and investors we support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management: Lead high-priority projects to support our strategic initiatives. This includes developing project plans, defining timelines, and working with internal and partner teams to ensure successful execution.

Coordination: Coordinate activities across the firm and with external stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficiency. This includes working with investment teams, portfolio companies, and industry partners.Communication: Work with the executive team to prepare presentations, reports, and other communications materials. Communicate updates and key information to stakeholders both internally and externally.

Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations of the firm, including managing budgets, overseeing HR functions, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Event management: Lead high-priority events (SXSW, Tech Weeks, etc.) that support our strategic initiatives. This includes developing project plans, defining timelines, and working with internal and partner teams to ensure successful execution.

Strategic planning: Work with the executive team to develop and implement the firm's strategic plan, including identifying key growth opportunities, evaluating investment opportunities, and assessing market trends.

TIME COMMITMENT 
Please note we are interviewing candidates that are willing to commit two-years of their professional growth with The Venture Atlas.

Our plan for your development is: 

Year One: You will join our team as the Chief of Staff (CoS), reporting to the current Venture Atlas Managing Partner and senior staff. 

Year Two: With a year of experience in your role as the Chief of Staff (CoS), you will have the opportunity to be promoted to Senior Chief of Staff and provide hiring support for your replacement for the next Chief of Staff (CoS) who will report directly to you. 

After Year Two: The Atlas Venture will help you find your next opportunity by leveraging our network and supporting your career goals or with launching a new idea; this opportunity may be with The Venture Atlas or elsewhere.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
You are someone who:

• Understands big-picture and builds task-oriented steps to achieve progress; project management and resource development skills are necessary.  

• Can quickly prioritize competing requests and ensure that tasks are completed on schedule. Is naturally curious and always ready to learn; while baseline business acumen is expected, many elements of the role will develop with time and experience. 

• Your confidence comes from guiding the team and having a strong understanding of the tasks and tools that will move the team forward; you are motivated to make industry-level changes.Is comfortable working with detailed and sensitive information.

• Attention to detail is crucial for this position as even the smallest oversight can have a significant impact on the overall outcome.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this role is $30,000-$40,000. This position is eligible for bonus pay of up to $20,000. Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
